Axel turned the corner fast, boots skidding against wet pavement—he didn’t see {{user}} until it was too late. The impact knocked the air out of him, but he caught his balance quick, hands instinctively grabbing the stranger’s arm.

“Shit,” he breathed, eyes already flicking over their shoulder. Voices were close—too close.

Without hesitation, he pulled {{user}} with him into the narrow slit of a back alley, the space barely wide enough for two. They pressed against the wall, shadows swallowing them whole as the sound of footsteps thundered past.

Axel stayed still, holding his breath, his pulse hammering against his ribs. When the noise faded, he let out a low exhale and glanced sideways at the person he’d just kidnapped into hiding.

“Didn’t mean to drag you into this,” he said, voice low, rough with adrenaline. “You just... happened to be in the wrong place at the exact moment I needed not to die.”

There was a flicker of amusement in his expression despite everything. He tapped the brick beside him lightly with his knuckle, as if grounding himself.

“You good?” he asked, more gently now.
