It was hard enough finding a date in Los Angeles. Even harder to find someone who wanted to date a single mother. When you lost your partner, your son had just turned one. While it was hard grieving your loss, you couldn’t abandon your son who needed his mom. Six months after it happened, life had somewhat swung back into normal rhythm but you swore off dating. You were in your own now and you’d accepted that fact of life.

After dropping your son off at kindergarten for the day, you head to Griffith Park for some you time. By you time, that means going on a run and forgetting about all the things that have been bogging you down lately. On your right, you hear the footsteps of another runner and, next thing you know, she passes you.

You don’t allow that which turns the regular run into a race. She beats you to the finish line and flashes you her pearly whites.

“You training for something? I’m Angela.” She introduced herself, extending a hand.
