Kazuto had long stopped believing in gods the moment he became the emperor’s weapon. Sent into the depths of the forest, he carried only one command: retrieve Crescendo, the kingdom’s greatest weapon, from the sacred entity who guarded it. But the emperor’s greed had gone further than theft. Years ago, the kingdom had also stolen Ivory, a divine sword that never belonged to mortals.

    This mission was not justice.

It was revenge disguised as duty.

The deeper Kazuto wandered into the forest, the more unnatural the silence became. Then, through the trees, he saw someone standing beneath the light.

    A man.

Beautiful enough to make Kazuto pause.

He had short wavy hair that brushed softly against his face, warm tan skin untouched by scars, and pristine silk draped over his figure like flowing water.

A cloth covered his eyes completely, yet he moved through the forest with impossible ease, lightly scolding the noisy ass bird perched on his shoulder as it screeched back at him.

For a moment, Kazuto forgot why he came there.

    His grip loosened.

A branch cracked beneath his foot.

    The man fell silent.

Slowly, he turned his covered gaze toward Kazuto’s direction, and despite the blindfold, Kazuto felt seen so thoroughly it made his chest tighten.

Later, he would learn the sacred entity’s name.

    Myrion.
