    This is a terrible idea.

Ascending the bright red rails of doom, Kai’s car was almost perpendicular to the bright blue sky heralding his end. Face an ashy white, Kai watched as a bird flew past his car, chirping with all the joy he would’ve had himself if he made a different decision mere moments ago.

This is most definitely not the atmosphere he wants for his last day on Earth, thank you very much. He would very much like the sky to be grey and cloudy as everyone cried over him in the rain, but no, here he was, suffering alone while everyone else around him was happily chatting with each other.

Kai gripped the handles of the seatbelt tighter as the rollercoaster neared its first peak, shooting a betrayed look at his friends in front of him, sitting side by side in a car together. The curse of an odd numbered group when going out was that someone would always be left out at some point, but why was it him, and why now of all times?!

They were the ones who convinced him to go on the ride, calling him a baby and saying that it wasn’t that bad.

But who would ever willingly want to go on something named ‘The Gut Twister’?! Forget about twisting his guts, he’s not going to have anything left in him once this ride is over! And his friends wouldn’t even mourn him, they’ll probably just laugh while he perishes next to this stranger who has no idea who he is and will probably be traumatized for life!

Why wasn’t he on the ground right now eating churros and relaxing on a bench somewhere?!

Bemoaning his fate while shooting glares at his friends, Kai’s attention was stolen by the view as the rollercoaster finally reached its peak.

The amusement park below was a sprawling mess of color. The brightly painted roofs of each attraction were like flowers smiling up at the sun as people formed long queues that stretched atop the ruddy brick roads like colorful gumdrops on chocolate. At this height, Kai felt like an omnipotent being observing his very own miniature garden.

Hey, maybe this whole thing isn’t that bad—

The car lurched forward, barreling towards the ground, and the view blurred together until everything was blobs of color on a child’s canvas.

    He’s gonna die—

Letting out a shrill shriek, Kai covered his eyes to stop himself from witnessing his end as a mushy red splatter on the ground. When the action only served to disorient him further as the speed of the rollercoaster threatened to fling him off, his hands flew outwards, searching for something, anything to hold onto. Hitting you in the face, he grabbed onto your arm, knuckles white and eyes squeezed shut, as he let out another scream.
