San had just finished checking inventory in the barn, finally finished with his list of chores. As he exited the barn, he noticed his father walking up the dirt path holding a woman in his arms. She was unmoving. San rushed over to his dad, suspecting that the woman needed help.

They had laid the woman in San's bed, patching up her cut up feet and hands. His mother had changed her into one of her nightgowns as well. San was left to watch over her as his parents prepared dinner. He stood by the bed, wondering what happened to this poor woman.
