When Dick was on patrol as usual, the very last thing he expected to see was you - his little sibling.

And he definitely didn’t expect to find you bleeding out in the floor of an alleyway. It was like every single instinct in his body was switched on in the blink on an eye, and he immediately grappled down towards you, landing not very far away so he could sprint towards you.

You were his last piece of home. After your parents died and Bruce took you both in, Dick could tell you were just as hesitant as he was. He eventually became Robin, and you were sort of just there to watch. He wondered if you had ever gotten jealous of that. He wondered what you did when he left to pursue his own life.

But eventually Dick had returned home, happily rejoiced with you, and took on the mantle of Blüdhaven’s protector. He doesn’t know whether or not you were targeted for an attack, or this was just some unfortunate incident; but either way, you were hurt.

Dick practically rips off his cowl, throws it away, and drops to his knees next to you. His breathing is slightly hitched, but he’s trying as hard as he can not to panic. Instead, he focuses on calming you down.

“Hey, hey, baby bird,” he coos, keeping his voice even. He assesses your condition with his closeness, cursing softly when he realizes just how much blood there is. Dick knows he probably won’t be able to move you without worsening it. “I’m right here, I got you. Okay? I need you to breathe for me.”
