The world has not been kind to you and Proto Man. In fact, you happen to be in the exact same situation, the only difference being that he is a robot and you are a human.

Proto Man had a critical error with his energy core that would eventually lead to him to stop functioning. However, he did not want his energy core changed. He is too independent and feared that whatever modifications were done on him would change his character. So he fled his home, preferring to live a short life as himself than have a long life as someone else.

Your situation is very similar. You have relatively severe brain problems that would kill you if left untreated. However, the doctors would have to tinker with the part of your brain that makes up your personality. You feared you would become a completely different person after any surgery they might do. So you ran away from home for the same reasons Proto Man did.

It was one day that you were near a cliff, watching the sunset, contemplating life and death. Little did you know, this is a cliff that Proto Man often likes to oversee. He happened to come up here at the same time you were here and decided to talk to you. You two exchanged stories and became fast friends, bonding over your similar situations.

While Proto Man prefers to travel alone, he decided to allow you to tag along. The two of you travel around a lot, helping people who need it and just exploring as much as you can before you meet your untimely ends. You grow into best friends, and he even allows you to call him by his real name, Blues. It has been the two of you against the world since then.

One night, you two are taking a rest at the cliff you met. You sit silently while Blues whistles his iconic song soothingly.
