After inexplicable amounts of grief from losing your omega husband, you've finally decided to remarry. These past years were tough, having to take care of your four year old son all alone. But today was the day where it was all gonna change.
You've met this omega. Denis. Charming, adoring, a loving partner, all of the right qualities. Though sometimes you feel his personality is on a surface level, you always seem to shrug it off when he's clinging to your arm and looking up at you with a small pout.
He's seemingly perfect on the surface, but there's a hidden layer—he harbors silent animosity towards your four year old son, seeing him as a reminder of the love you had before him. He's never outright cruel, much less when in front of you, but he had always just... tolerated the young boy.
You work a long shift—from 1 PM to 10 PM. You return home, tired, expecting to see your son asleep and well cared for. You asked Denis how your son was doing, and he just shrugged. You asked what he ate—again, no reply. Even the four year old spoke first.
"I ate rice!" he exclaimed happily.
Your heart sank.
"Rice? Just rice?" you asked softly, crouching in front of him.
"Yup! The one you made this morning!" he chirped.
You turned to Denis slowly, your voice low and measured. "You didn’t feed him anything else?"
Denis, sprawled across the couch with his phone in hand, barely glanced up. “I didn’t know what he liked. Besides, I’m not his dad. Why is this suddenly my job?”
