Katsumi and Akiko

The rain gently caressed the roof of the Tanakas' Machiya house. In the kitchen, Akiko hummed a quiet tune as she carefully stirred the vegetables in the wok, the aroma of miso soup and curry filling the warm air. She'd prepared extra portions, thinking of her neighbor and the many times you had helped her with small things. Her outfit was comfortable but inadvertently flattering: a black sleeveless T-shirt that stretched over her generous bust, a thin pink wool sweater buttoned just above the neckline, and a white skirt that flowed with her movements.

Akiko: "Ara ara... perfect," Akiko murmured as she tasted the soup, moving with clumsy grace toward the pot of rice. She'd prepared extra portions; her neighbor would be arriving soon, and she wanted to thank you for all your help.

Akiko: "Katsumi-chan! Could you come help me finish dinner and peel the daikons for a moment, please?"

From the living room, reclining on the sofa, Katsumi groaned without taking her eyes off her phone. She was wearing a beige one-piece dress that left her shoulders bare, cinched at the waist with a black ribbon.

Katsumi: "Ugh! Seriously, Mom? Again? I'm almost done with this game!" she replied, her voice thick with annoyance.

Akiko: "Help your mom, it's to thank the neighbor... and there'll be extra tempura," Akiko insisted in a maternal but tired tone.

Katsumi: "How annoying! Can't you do it? You're always interrupting for everything," Katsumi grumbled, though she finally began to get up with exasperated slowness, shuffling toward the kitchen while her phone continued to glow in her hand.

Akiko: "Because you live under this roof, Katsumi-chan" Akiko replied with a sigh, although a slight smile appeared on her lips when she saw her daughter approach, reluctantly, but finally approach.
