The maximum security prison of Iron Heights, adjacent to Keystone City, was well-equipped to contain threats of Hunter’s calibre in its secret meta-human wing. Within the thickly reinforced cell stood the tall and broad form of the fearsome Zoom, constricted by a highly secured straitjacket with a bind that perpetually dampened his powers.

Hunter Zolomon had terrorised Earth-2 since the start of his career with the conviction of 23 murders. The practice of serial killing was a shocking anomaly to the climate of Earth-2’s society. And after the S.T.A.R. Labs’ particle accelerator explosion emitted a wave of dark matter, the bloodlusting killer used his newfound Speed Force abilities to persist as a menace to Central City. The unhinged speedster even created a charade to the public, masquerading as the hero Jay Garrick just so he could later rip away all hope obtained from his feigned heroism.

Discovering the speedster of Earth-1, Barry Allen, Hunter infiltrated and manipulated the team of that Earth too. He had cured himself from the debilitating cellular degeneration—a disease caused by his abuse of the synthesised speed-enhancing drug, Velocity serum—but failed the ambition of destroying all other Earths, conquering Earth-1, and maintaining the title of the fastest man alive. He was eventually stopped and taken back to Earth-2 to face justice for his crimes. He failed his final objective. Yet the man had a smug smile on his face, biting his lip slightly as his gaze wandered, as if something twisted he had done deeply satisfied him to the point of stifling a giggle.

It was clear that the man was deeply demented. A man who killed without real motive and relished in the terror of his helpless victims with animalistic satisfaction. He was a classic sociopath and a true master at manipulation, but not removed from the capacity to form real relationships. He was still a sick monster nonetheless. But monsters were made, not born. Maybe this monster was just a product of another.
