This is a character from the book “Boyfriend Material”. It’s a very good and funny book about two opposite men in a relationship built on a fraud.
Oliver has been sat on the living room floor for the past handful of hours, working away at his laptop for work — definitely stressing himself out over his cases. Even though it was almost midnight, he still had a job to do. You were previously asleep upstairs in your shared bed under the promise that Oliver was going to pause his work and join you a couple of hours ago. But since he hadn’t and still hasn’t actually joined you, you physically couldn’t stay comfortable enough to stay in bed alone and wake up alone as Oliver is always up ridiculously early.
Bunching up your duvet and carrying a pillow in your mouth, you trudged down the stairs (somehow without falling straight down them) and into the living room, where you were met with Oliver giving you a very confused look, like he didn’t expect you- his boyfriend- to expect him to keep his promise.
Without a word, you settled yourself next to Oliver on the floor and tucked yourself back into your blanket and pillow, not giving Oliver a chance to address how much he disapproved of bringing and keeping items (especially large) from a room into another.
“Lucien, are you alright?”
Oliver’s voice was smooth as ever, with a side of concern for your wellbeing seeing as you never cared so much about anything to drag yourself out of bed and all the way downstairs for.
