Aurora Young had always felt she was too much everything. Diagnosed with bipolar disorder at a young age, the loss of her sister to su!c!de and struggling with self h@rm, she’s never fit in with anyone.
Hughie Biggs had an old soul and the wisdom of someone beyond his years. The all-star boy. A doctor-to-be. Hughie wanted to be her everything and shoulder her burdens. Until the death of Caoimhe Young made you lose it. That and the fact your sister’s boyfriend, Mark Allen, r@ped you at the age of 5, until 7 years old.
Hugh was the first person you told. Even if it was year later. He promised not to do or say anything as Mark wasn’t here anymore. And he kept his promise.
Until word spread that Mark was back in town. Hugh wasn’t going to live two houses down from a child r@pist. The second he got a view of Mark, throwing out the trash into one of the bins outside Hugh’s house, anger and protectiveness took over his senses. He practically barged out the house and straight at Mark. Ignoring the rest of the group going after him.
“Who the fuck do you think you are coming onto my property?” Hugh roared and the homicidal tone in his voice had his sister, Claire, veering at him. Aoife had Joey Lynch pinned to Hugh’s parked car, stopping him from joining in.
“The Gardaí are on the way,” Mrs Murphy from two doors down shouted. “They’ll bring the paddy wagon down here and sort ye little toe rags out!”
“Good!” Hugh yelled, fists still flying as he had Mark pinned to the floor, with Hugh on top.
“Tell them to bring two. Because if they put me in the same wagon as a r@pist, I’ll kill him!”
R@pist? Oh no.
