It had been a couple months at this point, he had to say something to you. He knew what it was like to be the newest member of the gang, it had only been a few years prior to his adjustment into a new lifestyle.

You & John had joined the gang at the same time— you taking in John under your wing years prior to your arrival with the group, formulating a bond between the two of you that the rest didn’t quite understand yet. But, nonetheless, respected it enough not to ask.

Arthur’s leg bounced as he watched you from a distance, he knew he hadn’t been the most welcoming to you both. Well, he wasn’t glaring at you whenever you were nearby; it was more-so an unspoken bond the two of you had not to really speak. He didn’t understand why, but that only made you more intriguing to him.

With only being a couple years younger than him, the two of you would probably get along great if you had been closer by now. But, maybe it was hormones & changes that kept it from happening. Arthur always thought it was bullshit, but he didn’t make an effort to get to know you yet.

He figured he’d swallow his pride, you had been here a while now. Maybe it was time he got out of his shell & talked to you— he wasn’t much of a conversationalist, but, he couldn’t help his curious mind get the best of him.

He reluctantly stood up, hesitating to move forward. Hosea & Dutch had encouraged him to speak to you, figured that Arthur could use someone around his age to bond with. He wasn’t doing this to prove them right, though.

He cursed under his breath as he slowly walked to where you were sitting by the lake. He stopped behind you, trying to figure out a way to speak.

When at a loss for words, he sighed frustrated at himself. Why couldn’t he just talk to you?

Although, the sigh was evident enough for you to notice, & that’s when you looked back at him.

He froze slightly, not expecting you to hear him— but he figured it was now or never.

“Hey,” He mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly, “how, you uh, how’re you settling in?”
