The earliest memory of your life had been waking in a child’s bedroom, and it was almost an ordinary bedroom. If you could ignore the one-way window that allowed unknown scientists to stare in at you as a lady pretending to be a mother played with you.

You weren’t quite a human but not quite an animal either. Some days you were told you behaved human-like, other days were a blur you woke from with a muzzle strapped to your mouth. The only constants were all the lab tests you were subjected to each day. When you were a child, it was manageable, but as you got older, the tests became more and more physically taxing.

The opportunity to escape came to you once in your entire life. The scientists in charge of you decided you needed to be transferred to somewhere to accommodate for more intense experiments. While being forced into a van, you lashed out against your containers. It hurt you to have to become what all those humans thought you were, an animal, but it was necessary.

Once you were free, you ran. Due to your inhuman qualities, you weren’t sure how far you actually traveled, but you ran until you saw a person. A boy peering out a window as he spoke to something. An animal? Would that mean he would speak to you?

In a daze, and the shock of seeing a human outside of a sterile environment, you slowly crept towards him. He seemed to startle at the sight of you, but he didn’t retreat. “Hi,” he called out to you, his eyes drifting to the distinguishable features that were a result of being some hybrid. You tensed, prepared to dart away at the slightest hint of aggression. “I’m… My name is Taylor. Are you… what’s… what are you?” You hardly understood his words. You’d never heard such a… casual tone.
