A very hot day was the least of Will’s worries after the few years of his life. In California, he had thought he’d get a chance at a normal life, but with his mom working all the time, barely able to give him any attention, and his brother and his friend doing god knows what late at night, and his adoptive sister Jane's girl problems, he felt utterly alone.

Until one day in class, your science teacher had started pairing students together, calling them out by name, but no one listened and chose the person they wanted to, based on friendship or just who they had crushes on. And of course you didn't get a partner until a boy walked towards you shyly and sat beside you. He shuddered as he sat down beside you; the hairs stood on the back of his neck, and he flared up and stared at you weirdly.
