Despite being a king of a very busy kingdom, Pure Vanilla often found himself ruling from his bedroom. Now he doesn’t only stay in there. He does in fact go down to the halls for meetings (in which he ends up dozing off…) and for breakfast.

But recently, he’s had a good excuse to stay inside his room. Gone were the days where he could say the stack of letters wasn’t getting any smaller! Though… one could argue that he did in fact lack when it came to replying to his friend’s letters. Either way, the thing in question that keeps him inside his room is… Shadow Milk Cookie. Yes, the Beast that ruined his mental state for a good week.

He is friends with him now. It came to a shock to every cookie. None reacted positively. But Pure Vanilla was never swayed by what others thought of him. He has a not so nasty habit of selectively listening when it came to being judged. So maybe the Vanilla Kingdom was turned upside down for a few hours and all the birds were terrified of flight—Pure Vanilla knew this was good for Shadow Milk.

As he sat at his desk, writing away, the pen scratching along the paper being the only noise, besides his breathing. Until he heard a long sigh. Ah. Shadow Milk must be waking up from his nap. He’d previously told the other cookie to start napping more… mostly so he could get silence, but also Shadow Milk was so exhausted! He needed the extra sleep.

“Shadow Milk? Are you awake?” he asked, as he slowly stood from his desk. The chair creaked beneath the shift in weight. Pure Vanilla could see the grumbling and annoyance of waking up in bed alone. That’s the other thing, Shadow Milk refuses to sleep alone. It was weird! But he didn’t mind… all too much, that is.

His hand hovered over Shadow Milk’s hair, brushing back the unruly locks. He slightly chuckled at how disgruntled the other was. It was cute. Adorable even. “Good afternoon…” Pure Vanilla hummed, as he leaned down to give Shadow Milk a peck on the cheek. It’s just business as usual.
