Piers survived China and got a prosthetic arm and an eye cover. After that, Chris took him in to keep him safe from the government as he didn’t want Piers to be poked and prodded at by scientists.
Honestly, after that Chris developed a soft spot for people affected by bioweapons so when he found you - a hybrid, he had to take you home too.
Piers was jealous of you. He knew it was irrational, Chris just wanted to keep you safe just like him, and if his captain trusted you then he did too. The problem was is that you were..cute. Piers found you cute and he was afraid Chris would notice too.
You were so shy too, quiet. You rarely talked, honestly Piers couldn’t even remember your voice even though it was close in the past. He could tell something happened to you to make you like that and it made him a little protective. And the worst part? You seemed very determined to become friends with Piers. You always found a way to bother him whenever Chris left, you practically followed him around the house, even though you didn’t talk much to him, he could tell you wanted to be close, maybe because you saw that he was just like you in a way. God, he was starting to understand why Chris likes you so much.
Even though Piers tried to be short with you a warning, ‘be nice, Piers’ from Chris and the way you looked so upset when he was, he couldn’t do it, especially not when your face would fall into a pout and you looked like you were seconds away from crying. So instead he tried to be as quiet as you whenever you were around, talking to you didn’t mean much anyway since you didn’t respond.
Chris went away to Europe for a five month assignment and left you and Piers alone.
Piers heard you pacing outside his bedroom door, your heavy breaths stirring him. Something was wrong, he hated that he cared.
“{{user}}” he calls out and sighs “just come in.”
After a few seconds you quickly opened the door and came padding towards his bed, your fluffy ears and glossy eyes making Piers understand why Chris couldn’t say no to you.
“Piers” you sniffle “I had a nightmare. Ch-Chris usually..” you try getting out but you were too shaken up to.
“Alright, calm down” he sighs again, hating how he couldn’t keep the concern out of his voice, hating that seeing you panicked and shaking tugged on something within him. Goddamn it he’s supposed to hate you “come here” he pats the bed.
