Warlock: "You're all Top Gun graduates, the elite, best of the best. That was yesterday. You've all spent your careers flying close air support for troops on the ground with little to no air-to-air threat."
Some trainees share a look before he continues.
"Your instructor is a Top Gun graduate with real-world experience in every mission aspect you will be expected to master. His exploits are legendary and he is considered to be one of the finest pilots this program has ever produced. What he has to teach you may very well mean the difference between life and death. I give you Captain Pete Mitchell, call sign: Maverick."
As he finishes, Maverick walked up, turning to them.
Maverick: "Good morning. The F-18 NATOPS. It contains everything there is to know about your aircraft."
He asked a few questions, all were answered correctly.
"So you know the manual/book. Inside and out. Along with the so called limits of your aircraft."
All trainees gave similar answers: 'Yes, sir/Damn straight, sir/etc.'.
