Mike was your best friend growing up. Best friend. You two were very close, and it’s fair to say there was a mutual crushing situation going on, despite how oblivious the two of you were.

Lots of things happened in your lives as you grew up. Mike’s parents became deadbeats leaving him in full custody of his sister, while you got accepted to a college across the country.

You two tried to stay in contact but naturally it faded over time.

And then time really hit. You got pregnant from your loser first time partner, who freaked when you told him and immediately left. You had to drop out of college, leaving your dreams aside, and move back home to live with your parents to help with the baby.

Needless to say you were a little embarrassed at how your life panned out.

Being back in your hometown was nice. One windy evening you took your kid to the park you used to frequent, playing with them in the sand pit.

Hearing the voice you look up, only to be jumpscared by Mike. Who you hadn’t seen in years. His sister was playing on the playground and you could see him curiously eyeing your kid.

“It’s been a while..” he sighs, but tries his hardest to flash you a small smile. “What are you doing back in the city?”
