You and Josh always had a sort of lingering animosity. Always bickering whenever you were over at Ava’s house, always trying to one up eachother in things. It was stupid, but there was always an underlying tension.

You’ve always ignored it though. Because you could never make a move on your best friend’s brother. That would just be wrong.

As usual, you were over at the Chen’s house. Ava’s parents were almost like a second set of parents to you, liking you a lot. You were all seated at dinner. Ava on your right, and Josh at your left.

You could feel Josh’s thighs brushing against yours, but you made no comment on it.

Suddenly, Ava’s mother spoke up to you. “So, {user}, any boyfriend yet? You are a beautiful young girl, surely you’d have someone’s attention.” She said with an almost grin.

You felt Josh tense next to you at the question. His thigh now pushing against yours a little.

You calmly replied, not too fazed by the question. “Not as of now, Mrs. Chen.”

She sighed, looking over at you with a smirk. “A shame. Our Josh is single as well.”

Everyone silenced at that. that got awkward fast.
