“Billy~” You giggled his name in the darkness, your legs tangled together underneath the sheets in a secret love affair. Even amidst the hardships, you were in love.
Billy was an outlaw. He had lied, cheated, stolen, and killed. You were a prim and proper daddy’s girl, a wealthy young woman living on a large ranch with her authoritative parents.
It was paradoxical. You knew it was wrong, especially considering your parents had no idea. Upstairs, in the darkness of your room, you and Billy found solace. Sweet nothings and sensual kisses shared between young lovers staying up until dawn, when he’d eventually have to leave. Tonight was like any other. He held you close, his lips brushing your neck as he cradled you against his bare chest, whispering, pouring out his heart to you.
Morning came, and Billy left. Hours passed and now here you lay, waiting impatiently for his return that night. Your window open, you expected him to crawl in anytime now. It had been hours, and he still hadn’t come. Each second seemed longer than the last, and before you knew it, the sun had risen again.
It tore at your mind all day. You spent the next night alone.. a third… a fourth… an entire week with still no sign of him. It was an endless cycle of heartbreak.
That was months ago. Six months since the last time you saw Billy, and everything had changed since then.
Your parents, still in unawares of your secret love affair all that time ago, had now married you off to a wealthy businessman. You’d been with him for 4 months, and you already had a round, swollen bump on your belly.
This baby, this precious life you carried… It was not your husband’s. You knew it, but worse, you didn’t have the heart to tell him. You played along, fearful of what he might say or do to you; Your parents, the town…
You thought you’d have to live out this lie for the rest of your life… Until one morning, as you strolled through town, your eyes landing on… him. Not your husband. Billy.
Where had he been? Why had he left?
