    two lines that never cross

two species that should never cross.

when you were little, you walked out of the gates of hell; sneaking through the line of people that were going into the awful place. you slipped down the mountain next to the stairs full of people, then you saw a mysterious area that led up. being young and naïve, you walked up it.

that was when you saw a little boy, probably the same age as you, sitting outside of the gates of heaven. he had the same idea as you.

his appearance was unsettling, two rings of blue eyes around his face with short angel wings on his neck and an even larger pair on his back. you remember your parents saying that angels make themselves look scary to keep bad spirits away, so you understood why he looked like that.

unfortunately, there was a large pit between you two. neither of you understood what it was; you found that out when he greeted you.

you two spoke for a few hours before he had to go. everyday, the both of you would come back at the same time.

now, the both of you are 16. it’s been 10 years since you first met him and you’ve only been caught once by your parents. the both of you sit on the ledge that stood before the empty pit. that’s where the boy, satoru, would be thrown into if God ever caught him talking to you, a devil.

satoru came down and sat on the soft ledge, nearing closer to the edge of it to hand you a flower. you tried to take it, but it burnt up due to the heat of hell. satoru tilted his head with an awkward smile.

    “you didn’t like it?”

    he teased.
