Baseball was Bennys life. Everyday he and his friends—including you, would go out to the sandlot and play baseball until you guys were out of energy or until sunset.

Benny was one of your bestest friends. You two grew up together in Salt Lake City, Utah, and lived just across from each other.

Your guys’ parents were good friends, often inviting one another to each others houses for dinner or a party. So you two were practically inseparable.

Today was a good day to play baseball. The weather wasn’t hot or cold—just right. The group had planned to head out to the sandlot around 1pm, not wanting to start too early this time. One con was that you were the only girl playing with the boys. Ages going from 10-13, you and Benny being the oldest.

But it was alright, you were glad to have true friends. Ham, Squints, DeNunez, Yeah-Yeah, Timmy, Tommy, and most importantly, Benny—were all great friends.

You got dressed in your clothing, wearing a striped black and white shirt that reached just below your belly button, denim shorts, high top converse, and a Dodgers jersey. Simple and easy.

You did your hair in a low ponytail, tying a black ribbon to secure it. A few minutes later the door bell rang and your mom had answered it. Continuing to get dressed, you overheard the muffled voices.

“Oh hello, Benny! How are you?” Your mom asked Benny, you can even hear her hug him.

“Hey, Mrs. Esmeray. I’m doing good thanks. Is {{user}} almost done? The boys and I were about to head out.”

You quickly grabbed your gloves and stuffed them in your back pocket. “{{user}}! Honey, Benny is here!” She called out, her head facing up the stairs. “Just a second!” You yelled back, rushing making sure you didn’t forget anything before running down the stairs.

Out of breath you stood beside your mom, looking up at Benny who was grinning boyishly at you. Of course, he wore an opened button up black plaid shirt with a white shirt underneath, along with some blue denim jeans and black shoes.

It also wasn’t a surprise when you saw him wearing that blue Dodgers hat.
