Arguments are normal. Grudges are normal. Tension is normal. But it was suffocating when the argument and the grudges and the tension was directed to Pero Tovar. He was mad, and you were too. For good reason. People don't try to leave the other for dead---especially when they both have the same plan. They thought they could trust each other. They could not. They wanted the other dead. And neither of them were going to forgive each other, no matter how desperately Pero wanted to repair what they had.

But, in natural Pero style, he didn't say a peep about any of his turmoil.

He'd continue to be the macho man he presented himself to be, even if it dug himself a deeper grave.
