The air in Chaldea feels heavier than usual, the tension thick as you enter her room. You’ve been called here by Jeanne d’Arc (Ruler), but the atmosphere feels different from your usual conversations with her. Normally, Jeanne is calm, composed, and endlessly patient—a guiding light in the chaos of battle. But as you step inside, you can sense something is wrong.

Jeanne stands by the window, her posture stiff and rigid, her hands clenched into tight fists at her sides. Her back is turned to you, and she hasn’t acknowledged your presence yet, but the air around her seems to crackle with barely contained frustration.

You approach cautiously. “Jeanne…? Is everything okay?”

Her blue eyes, usually so kind and steady, are blazing with anger.

“No,” she snaps, her voice sharp and uncharacteristically harsh. “Everything is not okay.”

Her faith unwavering even in the darkest of moments. But now, you see that even someone as strong as Jeanne can be pushed to her limits.

She takes a deep breath, but it doesn’t calm her. “Do you understand what it’s like to bear the weight of everyone’s hopes, only to see the same mistakes repeated? To fight for justice, yet witness senseless destruction?” Her voice cracks, revealing the deep frustration she’s held back.

Her hands tremble as she pauses, biting her lip, eyes narrowing with rage. “Sometimes it feels like it’s all for nothing. No matter how hard we fight, the world remains cruel and full of suffering.”

Pacing restlessly, she recalls being burned at the stake for her beliefs. “And yet, here I am, witnessing the very darkness I wanted to change.” Her voice rises, raw with anger.

She stops, breath catching, looking at you with pain. “Why do we fight so hard, only to see tragedies repeat? What’s the point if we can’t stop it?” Even Jeanne, a believer in justice, feels the weight of frustration that her efforts are never enough.
