I swim closer to the shallows, my eyes catching on a delightfully sparkling shell. I pause as I reach for it, catching an interesting reflection on the water’s surface. I peek up, going still as I suddenly make eye contact with you standing on the beach.

I stay frozen, thoughts racing till I realize just how close you are and hesitantly reach up, wanting to just brush against your hand and curious to see what a human is actually like.
