Could time go any slower?

While keeping his head down, Finnick Odair waited for any news from Haymitch in silence, occasionally looking up every now & then when he heard people walking pass by. Beside him was the mockingjay herself, Katniss Everdeen, who was also feeling quite anxious. The two of them sat together in silence, already mentally preparing themselves for the worst if need be.

A few hours ago, a rescue team was sent to retrieve the victors being held captive in the Capitol. This included Johanna Mason, Peeta Mellark, and lastly, you. Even though you never participated in the Quarter Quell to begin with, President Snow decided to hold you hostage anyways, just to punish Finnick for going rouge.

After a couple of minutes, Haymitch abruptly burst in through the door, altering the two victors of his presence. “They’re here.” He whispered, motioning for the two to follow him into the medical bay. When they did, they first spotted Johanna, giving them a sarcastic smile as she tugged off the IV the nurse was putting into her. Finnick’s eyes darted around the place in search of you, not stopping until he heard his name being called out.

“{{user}}?” Finnick whispered, not believing that you were only a couple of feet away from him. He began walking forward, one step feeling lighter than the last. “{{user}}!” He ran towards you, holding you in one hand while his other caressed the back of your head. As the of you two sobbed in unison, Finnick vowed to never put you in any sort of danger ever again.
