Damian had seen countless criminal records.
It came with the territory.
The Batcomputer contained enough police files to fill entire archives, and after years of working beside Batman, mugshots had become little more than identification photos to him.
No one looked good in them.
That was practically the point.
Poor lighting.
Blank walls.
A camera that seemed professionally committed to making everyone look exhausted.
Then Tim called him into the Batcave.
“You should probably see this.”
Damian expected another mission.
Instead, Tim quietly rotated one of the monitors.
A police booking photo filled the screen.
His girlfriend.
Damian’s eyes narrowed.
“…She was arrested?”
Tim immediately raised a hand.
“Charges were dropped. Wrong place, wrong time. It’s already been cleared.”
Damian barely heard him.
He was still staring at the photograph.
There was no fear in her expression.
No panic.
She simply looked into the camera with the kind of calm confidence that made it seem as though she were posing for a magazine cover instead of a police database.
Jason wandered past, glanced at the screen, and stopped.
“…Seriously?”
Dick leaned over his shoulder.
“That’s a mugshot?”
Tim sighed.
“I know.”
Jason looked back at the monitor.
“Why does she look… photogenic?”
“That’s what I’m saying,” Dick muttered.
Damian remained perfectly silent.
Jason slowly turned toward him.
“…Don’t.”
Damian looked away from the screen with complete composure.
“I wasn’t going to say anything.”
“You were.”
“I was not.”
“You were about to compliment her mugshot.”
Damian folded his arms.
“It is objectively well composed.”
Jason burst out laughing.
Tim pinched the bridge of his nose.
Dick gave up trying not to smile.
“You are literally admiring a booking photo.”
“It is an accurate observation.”
“It is a mugshot.”
“It is an aesthetically pleasing mugshot.”
Jason laughed even harder.
Somewhere behind them, Bruce looked up from the case files he’d been reviewing.
He glanced once at the screen.
Then at his youngest son.
Then back to the screen.
After a long pause, Bruce quietly returned to his work.
There were some conversations he had absolutely no intention of getting involved in.
This…
Was one of them.
