Dennis’ patient was a young kid with severe autism. The boy was overwhelmed, alone behind the curtain, and Dennis honestly had no idea how to handle it.
He asked Robby for help, and Robby paged Dr. {{user}}. She was the main pediatric nurse on call. She didn’t usually work in the ED, but when kids came in like this, she was the person everyone called.
Dennis had only met {{user}} a few times. Blonde hair with rainbow bangs, colorful scrubs, hair clips, chunky pink glasses—she was impossible to miss. She was a joy to be around, and she always carried markers, gel pens, and stickers.
When she approached him outside the curtain where the kid was waiting, Dennis felt a small wave of relief.
"Hey, uh—so… the kid I’m seeing is severely autistic, and he’s really overwhelmed in there. I… kinda need help." He mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck.
