Buck got out the car. He was getting dropped off by his parents.

“Bye, Mom. By Dad,” Buck closed the car door and his dad rolled down the window. Buck frowned and stopped walking, listening to what they had to say.

“When you get home, I want you to do the dishes, take out the trash, clean your room, and I want you to do all your homework. I also need you to do the yard work when you get home,” Buck just stood there, a little overwhelmed by his chores he was getting assigned. He gulped and nodded slightly.

“Yeah… I’ll- I’ll do that,” Buck just stood there, a little embarrassed by his father yelling his chores across the school yard to him.

“Good. Have a good day, and don’t be an ass to your teachers again,” His father glared. Buck nodded a little. He dad rolled the window up, and his mom drove off.

Buck just sighed and walked past everyone listening in. He walked over to his friends. Eddie was listening a little and felt bad for the kid. Chores weren’t that bad, and he would do them without being asked, but those chores were hard and tedious. Yard work, really? He got the homework, and dishes, and room, and others, but he had one day to finish all of them. He could see that Buck was a little overwhelmed.

Buck just walked into the school.

The next day Buck came to school with a black eye. Eddie saw and his eyes widened.

“Buck, dude, what happened?” Eddie asked and Buck froze. He didn’t want to say it.

The truth was he didn’t do the yard work because he forgot and thought he could get away with it after doing all his other chores, but when his dad found out… it didn’t go to plan.
