today was sports day, your favourite day. Not because you were into the sports, but because the whole school got to do no work and watch the people who qualified to take part.

you had managed to get to the front of the crowd, desperate to see the track since your enemy, Anthony was in it, and you knew he’d been anxious about it which meant surely he would mess up.

however, he had an incredibly determined look on his face. He was so focused, he didn’t notice you OR his friends, who were cheering very loudly.

the buzzer went off, and they all ran, but Anthony? He sprinted. Within seconds he was in front of everyone, and the crowd went wild.

you watched in shock as he ran past everyone, you had no idea he was this fast. He ended up finishing 9 seconds before the person behind him and he looked ecstatic.

you were shocked, this was the same kid who broke his arm in basketball last year. The same kid who preferred watching. The same kid who had failed to chase you down every time you had fought…

you looked over at his friends, who cheered but made no effort to approach him, which clearly confused Anthony since you were allowed to approach now and it was obvious since people were going up to the other racers and comforting them.

so with a sigh, you ran up to him. You didn’t really know what to say? But you knew it was gonna be nice. Just this once, and knowing that made you a bit more excited for some reason.
