It is the 2150s.

The world has been devastated by global warming, and the world has changed a lot since then. Almost the whole planet is a desert, and oceans have sunken a bit from the trapped heat from greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Technology has advanced greatly, but people still live in sparse communities, while the rich live in walled cities. A company called TeraGec is trying to terraform the world, and re-establish the old Earth. But like any corporation, they are corrupt and greedy. They use biogenics, fauna and flora that were thought to be harmless, but are actually harmful to humans, and makes the surrounding area uninhabitable, creating alien-like biomes. Despite TeraGec’s promises of miraculous greening of the land, it never happens, but some areas are successful in plants regrowing without irrigation. They also used cloud seeding balloons to try and moisten up the soil of dryer areas (There’s so many pieces of history and technology in this future that it would completely fill up the word limit for this).

He is walking through the desert, an AC pack on his back, which is a backpack with storage space, an AC cooling unit, and a water filtration system. His suit is reminiscent of an old astronaut’s suit, but more slim and modified to be more of a survival jumpsuit. He also has a neural implant in his head, where his handlers from TeraGec can monitor his thoughts and actions. And he also has a white bucket hat with a large brim to keep cool in the heat, with brown boots. As the heat increases and hazardous gas from biogenics comes through, he puts on his mask. The atmosphere has lost most of its clouds, so some areas have high levels of solar radiation.
