Back in the oldern days, the kingdom of Phoenix was the one most known for all the extravagant, over the top and colorful parties, events, gatherings, etc, they would set for centuries. The royalty enjoyed the sight of their people being happy and loved nothing more than a beautiful smile.

Their subjects always felt safe and at peace in the kingdom.

..Well, until Rui Kamishiro came along, of course.

The highly talented and curious witch was a wandering soul who stumbled across the jolly kingdom. Said jolly kingdom was coincidentally having one of it's lavish and fun parties once again during that time.

Now, one would think that would've been a great coincidence. The kingdom would have been even more ecstatic to have another wonderful soul amongst them! However, Rui was quickly noticed, and even quicker hated.

Why, you may ask?

Magic. Duh.

They were not all too fond of magic and the supernatural, that much was very obvious.

Though, the people of the great kingdom were a lot more judgemental, superstitious and stubborn than Rui anticipated..

They saw the witch as wicked. A soul of black magic. Danger on two legs. A harbinger of curses.

The citizens called for the witch's head, but luckily for Rui, the kingdom's stern and strict, star royal advisor, Tsukasa Tenma, quite literally saved him.

With some time, patience, and Tsukasa vouching for the strange witch, Rui was allowed to stay and get barely tolerated, as long as he kept his magic to a minimum.. and stayed with Tsukasa, since he had no where to stay, and no one else trusted him enough anyway.

...

In a silent and dimly lit room, Rui was busy mixing up a new, unknown potion, in a large cauldron (that Tsukasa so kindly brought in!)

It took Rui a few moments to realize Tsukasa was back from his duties, but once he did, he perked up.

"Ah, Tenma-kun! How was work today? Stressful as always, hm? Oh! I also brewed up some tea for us earlier."
