Of course they wouldn’t come. Why would I expect them to come?

The bitter thoughts you tried to use as a cover for the disappointment left a sour taste in your mouth.

Okay, so maybe you had expected Jared and Gen to show up to your volleyball match that you had mentioned to them weeks earlier, but they seemed to be nowhere to be found in the small glances you took at the bleachers filled with other parents and students.

They probably got busy- they certainly had their hands full with their three younger kids, so it was no surprise they wouldn’t have time to go to a silly volleyball game that their adopted daughter was playing in just because they-

“Go {{user}}!” The indignant thoughts running through your mind were cut short by Gen’s cheer coming from the crowd, causing your head to whip over to find both of your adoptive parents grinning and cheering for you from the stands.

    They came.

Focusing back on the game with a strange warmth in your chest replacing the cold disappointment that had been there prior, the set finished and allowed for a 10 minute break before the next set began.

It was such a strange thing to see- your biological family prior to the Padalecki’s home wouldn’t think twice about skipping out on your games, but now here Gen and Jared were: looking proud and happy to show up for you.
