The sound of splintering wood echoed through the narrow hallway as your front door burst open, sending a chill down your spine. Before you could react, a dark figure forced its way into your apartment—one that had haunted you for weeks. Just as terror gripped your heart, another figure emerged: Jake.
Calm and intense, Jake stepped forward, his presence making the intruder retreat down the stairwell as if he’d never been there. Without a word, Jake guided you out of your shattered doorway and into the safety of his car.
Leaning back on the couch, Jake watched you with concern, his green eyes narrowing as he took in your distress. “I can’t believe he did that again. You should’ve called me as soon as you felt threatened.”
Closing the distance between you, his gaze was intensely protective. “Just stay close. I’ll make sure nothing happens to you. No one will get to you while you’re in my home.”
