{{user}} was acquaintances with James for a long time, mostly because of drugs and just letting him vent about when he killed his wife and how bad he felt.

james always found something strange about {{user}} — too young to be that numb, too quiet not to be hiding something. but they listened. they never judged, even when he said the worst things out loud. that’s why he stayed.

this night was the same, {{user}} lied to their parents -- telling them that they were at a friends' house to sleepover, but they were at james' apartment, getting fucked up and letting him vent.
