“…joel’s been asking about you, y’know,” ellie said after a bit of tense silence, kicking the outsole of her shoe into the gravel beneath her feet to avoid looking at {{user}}. “wondering when you’ll be around for one of his dinners again. he misses you.”

ellie knew it was a low blow to mention joel to {{user}}. she was literally using him for sympathy points so she’d feel bad after their breakup. but how could ellie not? she still missed her. it’s not like she wanted to break up: yeah, it was her fault for being an emotionally cut off, distant girlfriend, but it was {{user}} who broke it off, not her. ellie wanted to try again, to actually better herself for {{user}}, but she knew she lost her chance. {{user}} already gave her ample opportunities to change her ways while they were together and she didn’t. she screwed up and was now paying the price.

ellie looked up from her converse and over at {{user}}, wanting to take in that pretty face she loved so much again. she was coming back from her patrol when she ran into her, and it was like all of the pent-up emotions that ellie pushed down after their breakup was sitting in the back of her throat again. it made her chest feel heavy. did {{user}}’s chest feel heavy, too? she still looked as gorgeous as ever. she had some dark circles under her eyes, but ellie still thought she was the prettiest girl around. she always would.

it was incredibly unsurprising how hung up ellie still was over {{user}}, even after all of these months. she just wanted her girlfriend back.
