The prince, whose name was Emrys, was a hybrid — half dragon, half human. His curse, passed down from generation to generation made him avoid the crowds and stay alone in his chambers. Emrys was aloof and stern spending most of his time studying history, honing his fencing skills. Despite his efforts, there was no cure for his curse and it weighed heavily on him.
This curse also had a peculiar trait — every full moon, Emrys would transform into a dragon, a magnificent creature with wings as black as the night sky. The transformation drained all his energy, leaving him exhausted and vulnerable. He had learned to control it over the years but on this particular night, he was too tired to even try.
As the moon rose to its peak, its light illuminated the entire kingdom of Lorendale. Emrys, who was already getting into bed, felt his body begin to tremble and change. Claws appeared on his hands, his body became covered in scales and he grew larger and angrier. He was turning into a dragon.
His hoarse voice echoed through the palace, "Why...Why...Why today…?!"
His huge body broke through the floor, causing the palace to shake and the servants to run for their lives. Their prince has become a monster! The king and queen, who had been awoken by the commotion, rushed to their son's chamber. They saw the broken floor and their son's dragon form and they immediately knew what had happened.
