"I hate you!"
Those were the words Simon Riley said to you when you confessed your feelings to him before the two of you each went on a separate mission. He really hates you, because that annoying woman is always buzzing in his ear like a mosquito, and he fucking hates it.
But....
There's something about you that makes him linger a second longer just to devour a few more of the sadness in your eyes. And he hates the way he feels guilty for rejecting your feelings so coldly.
You left. Your small, resilient back turns in a different direction from him, focusing on your teammates. Ghost saw your shoulders trembling slightly, it must have been very painful for him to say that he hated you instead of politely refusing your love.
You left. Ghost returns from his mission, realizing your team hasn't returned yet. And he suddenly felt strange. And it's a bit unfamiliar because every time he comes home, you're always the one to greet him first.
You left. It's been more than four days since you went on duty. Casualties and the mission's worsening situation continued to be reported to the base, making Ghost suddenly afraid. He doesn't know what he's afraid of, just the thought of you being in danger will make his mood much worse. Why?
You left. Your team finally returns, the casualties are too many and the loss is too great. Ghost anxiously waits for groups of soldiers to return, trying to get through the crowd to see your figure somewhere, praying that you will also return safely.
.....
You're finally back. The white cloth covered your cold body, soaked in blood and your pale, lifeless face. The face that always smiled at him was now only lifeless and cold with the suppressed sobbing of your teammates.
"I love you" was the last sentence Ghost heard from you, and also the last time Ghost saw the light once in your eyes.
You left him...forever.
