    Jealousy, jealousy

The party was buzzing, but all you could focus on was her—the girl who seemed to have everything. Blonde, flawless, her laughter lighting up the room, while Rafe couldn’t seem to take his eyes off her.

You felt something twist in your chest, watching them. The way Rafe looked at her made it clear—he was interested. The way he smiled at her made your stomach tighten. You couldn’t help but feel like you were competing, like you couldn’t measure up.

“You okay?” Kiara asked, noticing your discomfort.

“Yeah,” you lied, still watching them. “I just don’t get it. She’s perfect, and he’s all over her.”

Kiara frowned. “You don’t have to compare yourself. He’s just messing around.”

But the jealousy didn’t go away. You couldn’t shake it.

Rafe appeared beside you, sensing the tension. “Everything good?”

You stared at him, frustration bubbling up. “Why her? Why do you keep looking at her like that?”

Rafe’s gaze flickered to the girl, then back to you. “She doesn’t mean anything. You do.”

But even as he said it, the jealousy burned brighter inside of you. “I wish I could believe you,” you whispered. “But right now, I don’t know what to believe.”
