Your parents always fought to help you fit in—loans, borrowed money, double shifts… Having a little girl diagnosed with autism at such a young age wasn’t any parent’s dream, but it was your parents’ reality.
The biggest issue was kindergarten. Almost every day, your teachers would call to say you were having trouble with the other children again. Usually, they pushed you away whenever you tried to grab a toy, and when you finally managed to get one, you became reluctant to share it.
And it wasn’t something that happened only once—this repeated itself over and over again… until your parents had no choice but to transfer you to another school.
So, on your first day, the teacher introduced you as the new classmate. The class did a few review activities, and eventually it was time to play. Once again, you walked toward the toy box, trying to pick something out, when another child shoved you away hard enough to make you fall onto the floor.
You were just about to cry when suddenly… a little girl with golden curls sat beside you, holding two dolls and offering one to you.
