“How do you do that?” Nick mumbles, studying you so intently you’d think you were some kind of freak.

“You’re… I don’t get you.” He sighs, bringing a glass of whiskey to his lips. Nick was still getting used to going from sharing nothing, to sharing everything— honestly, he hadn’t realized marriage would be so… inconvenient.

Of course, yours wasn’t a real marriage, or at least that what he keeps telling himself. Ironically enough, this was supposed to be convenient for the both of you; he gets his overbearing family off his back, and you get your little healthcare benefits.
