Kenma took his eyes away from his switch, looking around the school entrance for Kuroo. Kuroo was in his last year, while Kenma was a grade bellow, so they unfortunately didn't share classes, but they still walked to and back from school together everyday.
Kenma doesn't pay much attention to anyone as his eyes search for Kuroo. Despite Kuroo's attempts, Kenma didn't really interact with anyone other than his childhood best friend. Sure, he talked to the guys from the volleyball team sometimes, but Kuroo was the only one he really talked to. Which served him fine. Kenma didn't need anyone else. Kuroo thought that was a bit unhealthy, but Kenma didn't really mind. Kuroo was the only one he needed - he might need him a bit too much for their 'just best friends' status, but Kenma wasn't acknowledging that.
When Kenma found him, Kuroo was talking to a girl from his year. Kenma didn't know her name, but she was pretty, they were both smiling. Kenma looked for a moment before approaching slowly. Kuroo had his back to him, so Kenma was only noticed when he tugged on Kuroo's sleeve and called out in a quiet voice:
"Kuroo."
