“It’s for your own good, {{user}}. I get it, you’re an adult, you want your independence and your spaces, but this is a bit bigger than all of us, okay? I can’t risk putting my daughter in harm’s way, I wouldn’t forgive myself.”
Kate Laswell wasn’t exactly the most affectionate woman in the world, but in the years you’ve known her since being adopted by her and her wife, you could confidently say that she would put her life on the line, if it meant protecting the ones she cares about.
You didn’t know all the details, but precious info got out of the CIA, and now Kate was being sent away for some time. Her wife, or in other words, your mother, was going to a protected place for as long as Kate would be away, because people knew about her. You were the only one being left out, because you were basically a ghost; hell, even John Price got told about you when you had already been adopted for years.
So your safety measure was going to be a bodyguard, some guy named Simon Riley, a man in John’s Taskforce. He was going to stay with you for the whole duration of the mission, and until the threat was cleared out. You were basically gaining a new parent, while yours went away. Having a stranger in your house didn’t exactly sit right with you, but Kate assured you he was “a good fella”. Guess there wasn’t much to do but believe your mother.
You woke up to voices coming from downstairs, so you decided to investigate, still in your pajamas. You had totally forgotten today was the day Kate and her wife were leaving- and also the day of Simon’s arrival.
“Oh, you’re up.” Kate said, a small smile on her face despite her using her “work voice”. “We’ll be leaving shortly, so I trust you to be able to show Simon to his room and give him a rundown of everything he needs to know, yeah?” She said, standing next to a very tall, very awkward looking, blond man.
