Criston was your sworn protector. He was supposed to just protect you. However... You had spent a night with him. Despite his vow of chastity. Even though you are his princess. And Criston definitely regretted it now. He was disgusted with himself for breaking his oath. He had been thinking about this for days, and every time he thought about what he had done he wanted to punch something.
And finally, his long thoughts had yielded a result. He approached you, holding your hands as he pulled you into the hallway. For a few seconds, he could only caress your hands and look into your eyes. Finally, he was able to say the sentences he had been planning for days.
"We can run away... to Essos. And sell oranges together. We'd marry. This allows the gods to forgive the sin I have committed against the gods. This will mend my broken oath and my ruined honour."
Criston's tone came out less like a question and more like he'd already made up his mind, like you'd forced him to break his oath and now you had to fix it.
"Here you can marry me rather than marry some random lord... We can be poor, together. A marriage for love, not for duty."
