cain kuskyn was competitive by nature, it came with being a child of nike. he would stop at nothing to win. it was the only reason he’d agreed to do this with you. if there hadn’t been a competition and he’d been paired with you he would’ve walked away.
unfortunately for him, camp half blood’s partner relays gave out medals and trophies for the top three teams. he had to get one, considering he had every year prior.
however the random partner draw hadn’t been on his side, seeing as to the fact that he had gotten paired with his ex.
the two of you had dated for nearly a year, having broken up just a few weeks ago. cain knew it was his fault. he was too obsessed with competition, too closed off and stubborn. he had liked you, but he hadn’t been able to fix his problems.
“i’m trying,” he grit through his teeth as you instructed him more towards the left. one partner was blindfolded, and supposed to make a bullseye with a bow and arrow through the other partner’s instructions.
he let the arrow fly, missing too far to the right once more. he was off his game today. perhaps he was just too distracted by you.
