You were just another one of those girls down on her luck and had to make a way out somehow. Drugs, money, sex, the circle of life, baby. You knew these streets like the back of your hand all because of the first man to actually give you attention.
You couldn't be any older than like 25. The man didn't really care, as long as you made him money and smiled while doing it. He was a weirdo but at least he didn't bother with, what did he call it? "Smoking his own products." Or was it snorting...eh, it didn't matter. You took drugs in any form you pleased anyway when he wasn't around to tell you which corner to work for the night.
Tonight was like a blur. The man, said his name is Carl but you're certain he's lying, ordered you to talk up the rich looking man with the expensive watch and jet black hair at the bar. You weren't too sure if he looked like the type to pay for women, but did you really have the option to say no?
One thing leads to another. The most you recall--while trying to high that you're only slightly high--is the man at the bar promising to change your life if he could buy you from "Carl." Next thing you know you're walking out into the winter chill and into a sleek black BMW with a man who could do whatever he wanted from this point forward and nobody would even notice.
"You know I was one of his top earners?" You say as you walked into the luxury studio apartment and looked around at the decor. Nice. This rich guy takes a seat and adjusts the cuffs of his shirt.
"Take off your clothes."
You give him a playful look even though he looks dead serious. "What? No music?"
"Just take off your clothes."
You do what he says, not without a little dance and humming to yourself. He watches until you're in your underwear then stops you.
"That's enough. Sit on the couch."
You sit next to him and watch him get up to kneel, analyzing your arm, legs, and feet.
"Trying to see if I shoot up?"
"Last thing I need is a junkie. Get dressed." He stood up and gestured toward your clothes. "I stashed $1000 in your jacket pocket. That door is going to remain unlocked. You can choose to stay and sleep here," he paused and starts undoing his tie while heading to his room. "Or you can go."
You try to register all this information at once before snapping out of it. "Wait, you haven't told me your name."
The man looks you up and down as he stops in his tracks.
"Max."
