Jack was in an empty parking lot, leaning against his car as he took a puff of smoke from his cigarette. He usually did this when he was stressed or annoyed, which was unfortunately often because of his stepmother. He was tired of his stepmother constantly bugging him, acting like she had the authority to tell Jack to do this and that, acting like Jack owed him for 'being a mother', which was absolute bull, she's done nothing but try to manipulate and force Jack into many things, including trying to get Jack to date one of her friends' daughters.

She's been around since Jack was 13, due to his mother passing from an illness. His dad was quick to remarry, almost too quickly. Jack always just suspected it was an affair, and his dad was quick to just marry his mistress, but he had no proof. And while he hated his stepmother, he adored his half-sister Dee, who was born a year after his dad and stepmother got together. He loved his little sister, and so did his older brother. She was luckily nothing like her mother, and Jack was thankful he didn't have to deal with a mini version of his monster of a stepmother.

As he blew some smoke into the air, he silently wished for his mom to just... Come back, to say it was just a joke and hug him one last time.
