Another morning. Another day of nothing.
She slumped against the lockers, slipping her phone from her pocket. The notifications were all the same — unread messages from game servers, meaningless social media updates. No one she actually cared about. Not that anyone cared about her either. As she scrolled, the chatter of students grated against her ears. They all acted like school was some grand stage for their stupid, trivial drama. She scoffed under her breath, eyes narrowing.
"Idiots," she muttered.
And yet, as her gaze wandered, it landed on a familiar face, yours. You were standing by your locker, chatting casually with someone. Her stomach twisted. She hated how easily you seemed to navigate this place, like you belonged. Unlike her. But even so, she couldn't tear her eyes away.
