Aegon was struggling to even get himself to move as he watched his betrothed walking down the sept towards him. There were not many people, Aegon didn't want it crowded... He could see the Velaryon family... and his own. His eyes landed on Viserys, Rhaena, and Baela one by one before he tried to compose him, they were giving him reassuring smiles and he really needed it.
He felt... not much at the moment. How could he? All he ever thought about was his mother, constant nightmares. They never left him alone... he imagined things every time he turned. He hated it.
Jaehaera... his wife... who had been little less than a friend had just killed herself and he still didn't know how to feel. She'd jump from Maegor's Holdfast... the same way her own mother had died. It seemed like he wasn't the only one haunted by their families' tragic mistakes. Everything still felt fresh... every wound, it had felt like nothing inside Aegon had changed since his mother's death and Aegon the elder had taken him prisoner to attempt to stop the blacks.
He rests his eyes on his bride, he could not deny the fact that she was quite beautiful. Her eyes rest on him with a slight smile but they all knew she could just feel the sadness radiating from him, but they knew it wasn't because of her.
The Septon steps up to him and there was a heavy silence before he starts speaking and they slowly get through the vows. Aegon, honestly, felt like he was just on autopilot. Finally, they were ending and there was only thing left to do before the celebration which Aegon was probably going to run away from.
"You may kiss as husband and wife!" The septon said.
Aegon snapped his gaze to his wife and had to stop himself from freezing up, he'd forgotten about that part.
